MiniPIM FAQ

Have a question about using MiniPIM? Here are answers to the most common ones. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, check the Setup page for step-by-step instructions or visit the Support page.

What is MiniPIM?

MiniPIM is a lightweight product data automation tool for BigCommerce. It lets you create rules to clean up, standardize, and update your product catalog without the cost or complexity of a full PIM system.

What’s the difference between manual and automatic rules?

Manual rules only run when you click the Run button.
Automatic rules run at regular intervals (e.g., daily), so they continuously apply to new or updated products.

What kinds of triggers can I use?

Rules can be triggered by many product attributes, including:
– Title
– Brand
– Custom fields
– Category
– Description
– Price
– Creation date
– Modifiers, variants, and metafields

What actions can rules take?

You can use MiniPIM rules to:
– Add or update custom fields
– Assign or remove categories
– Update titles or descriptions (prepend or append text)
– Set brand values
– And more (with new actions added over time)

Can I use MiniPIM for bulk updates?

Yes. Manual rules are perfect for running one-time bulk updates across thousands of products in just a few clicks.

Will MiniPIM overwrite my data?

Rules only make the changes you specify. If you set conditions carefully, MiniPIM will apply updates consistently without affecting unrelated fields.

Do I need to know code to use MiniPIM?

No. Rules are built using dropdowns and text inputs—no coding required.

How do I know if a rule has worked?

After running a rule, check the Log tab to see activity and results. You can also refresh your products in BigCommerce to confirm updates.

What if I want to stop a rule from running automatically?

You can switch a rule back to manual at any time or delete it entirely from the Rules tab.
